Ad Builder

This Ad Builder window lets players place ads in the newspaper or on the radio. Placing ads attracts customers, but certain types of customers are attracted to certain types of ads, and ads are expensive, so it is important that players target their customers well.

Ads Currently Running

At the top-left of the window is a list of ads that are running. Players can select ads to see their attributes or to Cancel them.

Ad Preview

The Ad Preview box shows what an ad will look like when submitted -- players can view an existing ad or preview while creating a new ad.

Medium

Players must choose the medium in which the ad will appear. Springfield has two newspapers (a college paper and a main paper -- the main paper has several sections within which an ad can be placed: sports section, business section, etc.) and three radio stations. In order to advertise effectively, player must try to choose an advertising medium according to who will buy their products.

Ad Size

Larger ads will attract more people, but they cost more, too.

Tone

Players can select the style, or tone, of the ad. The tone can be anything from Fun to Health to Economy. Different customers are more receptive to different tones, so it is important to choose one that is appropriate to the product.

Features

Players can try to stress the features of their products in their ads too. This will attract customers who are looking for these features. It is important to actually offer the features you boast, because unsatisfied customers will tarnish a player's public image.

Price

Once an ad is created, the price field shows how much each ad will cost each week.

New Ad

Resets the settings to build a new ad from scratch.

Cancel Ad / Submit Ad

Players can select an existing ad, then press Cancel Ad to cancel it. If building a new ad, this button will say Submit Ad, and pressing it will run the ad.

Pressing this button gives help on how to use this window to place an ad.

Pressing this button gives advice on placing ads.
